Wholesome Millet Thinai Pongal Mix
A wholesome take on the South Indian classic, our Thinai Pongal brings together foxtail millet (thinai), moong dal and traditional Pongal spices in an easy-to-make mix. Warm, comforting and naturally hearty, it’s made for days when you want a simple traditional meal without starting from scratch.
Preparation
How to use
Add 1 cup of Thinai Pongal Mix and 4.5 cups of water to a pressure cooker. Cook until the millet and dal under medium flame for 4-5 whistles. Once cooked, mix well and adjust the consistency with a little hot water if required. For that extra homemade touch, finish with a spoonful of ghee and roasted cashews.

Good to know
Frequently asked questions
Is this an instant Pongal?
It is a convenient ready-to-cook mix. The ingredients are put together for you, but the Pongal is freshly cooked at home.
Do I need to add anything?
The mix is designed to make preparation simple. For the best traditional finish, we recommend adding a fresh ghee tempering before serving.
What can I serve it with?
It pairs beautifully with coconut chutney, sambar or brinjal gothsu — or simply enjoy it hot with a little extra ghee.
Is it spicy?
The flavour is intended to be warm and peppery rather than chilli-hot, making it a comforting breakfast or light meal. It's my 15 month old's favorite!
