Ingredients
- 1 medium onion
- 4 shallots (small onions)
- 4–5 garlic cloves
- 2–3 dried red chillies (or ½ tsp My MIL Garden Chilli Powder)
- 2 tbsp grated coconut
- Small piece of tamarind (adjust to taste)
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- 1 tbsp gingerly oil
- ½ tsp mustard seeds
- Few curry leaves
How to Prepare
- Blead onion, shallots, garlic, red chillies, coconut, tamarind and salt in a blender with little water.
- Heat gingerly oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Toss in the curry leaves.
MIL Tip
If you enjoy a deeper flavor, roast the red chillis separately for a few seconds before blending. It gives the chutney a beautiful color and a richer aroma.
